Is this really Venom’s last dance?

This post contains spoilers Venom: The Last Dance.

The question is at the root of this Venom: The Last Dance It’s an easy one: Is this really the end of Venom?

Is this really Tom Hardy’s last loss as journalist-anti-hero Eddie Brock? The greatest comic book movie love story – a man standing in front of a symbiote asking for love – finally done?

Going by the events of the movie, yes to all three. but The Last Dance There are two post-credits scenes that leave open the small possibility that this alien may not be the end of the superhero era.

In the film, Brock and Venom – the alien symbiote with which the reporter shares a body – are crushed by a villain named Knull (CGI actor extraordinaire Andy Serkis). Knull is apparently some kind of terrible, terrible evil – cloaked in a shadow of startling white hair – trapped in a world of eternal darkness. The only thing that can free him is a codex (which looks a bit like a glowing, spinning gem), which, because it’s ostensibly a movie about Venom, is actually part of Venom’s body. Knull sends immutable alien creatures called Xenophages after Venom and Eddie, with the intention of killing one or both and retrieving the Codex so that Knull can unleash destruction and despair on the universe.

Meanwhile, Venom and Brock are on the run after the incident Venom: Let There Be Canaz. They hide out in Mexico, but after Venom eats some of the men, they decide to try to build a new life for themselves in New York City. Venom tells Eddie that he wants to see the Statue of Liberty, as Eddie explains how he welcomes anyone who needs shelter and protection in America. (yes, Venom: The Last Dance actually serves as a metaphor for immigration reform that features a literal undocumented alien.)

Due to the interference of Knull and his xenophages, as well as the American military, the pair never made it to New York. Instead, they’re stuck in Area 51, where things look bleak for Venom. In the symbiote’s last stand, he absorbs Knoll’s killer beasts and immerses himself in corrosive acid—the only thing strong enough to dissolve the xenophages. Venom’s final act is to sacrifice himself for Brock and Earth, and as he and his attackers die, so does the Codex.

In the final scene of the movie – after an extended Eddie and Venom montage – Eddie visits New York City and looks up at the Statue of Liberty. It’s a scene she knows Venom would love. And these people, the end … or is it?

Venom: The Last Dance’s credit scenes leave the door cracked for future symbiotes

the first of The Last DanceThe credit scene is a short one. Knull reappears on screen, announcing that Venom is dead and he’s coming to take over the universe! Will he? Well, Knull’s return will largely depend on how much money this film makes. If it rakes in some cash – poison Films do particularly well overseas – Knull may return. But if Knull is back, wouldn’t that also point to the return of Venom? You can’t have a villain without a hero! That’s not how superhero movies work!

Lately, the once solid, guaranteed success of a superhero movie is looking even weaker, and studios are scrambling. Marvel’s Post-end game The design fell apart, and the studio is banking on bringing it back Robert Downey Jr To help jump-start the engine. Warner Bros. is going in a direction Reboot led by Jem Gunn of DC Comics properties. Sony’s small coterie of Marvel-related films has been a semi-bright spot in the landscape, so if this film is a hit, they’re bound to find a way to bring the franchise back.

    But how?

The Last DanceIts second credits scene takes place after all the credits have scrolled, and it takes a look at the ruins at Area 51 where Venom died. Destroy all! Everything is random! All of this allows Brock’s bartender from Mexico, who we see captured by the US military early in the film, to break out of his cell and roam the desert.

The important part here is that we see remnants of a symbiote of a cockroach system. (I totally get that the sentence is stupid, but the venom is stupid.) Summary: If this cockroach – nature’s ultimate symbol of survival – touches the symbiote, the symbiote can probably survive. Therefore, if any part of the venom is protected by acid, it is likely to survive through the cockroach.

All of this means that even though the movie said goodbye, and even though it probably sent Hardy away, there’s still a possibility that Venom or Venom-affiliated heroes (ie, other symbiotes) might live on. This blurb is good for anyone who likes these movies, or anyone with a weird, delusional fantasy of seeing some kind of Sony Shared Universe where Madame Webb, Morbius, and Venom all hang out like friends, or anyone who wants to finally have one. . The Venom x Tom Holland Spider-Man crossover that has been relentlessly teased.

Like the aforementioned Knull credits scene, ultimately Venom’s future movies will determine what happens at the box office. If a lot of people go to see this movie and it makes millions of dollars, it won’t be Venom’s last dance. Bandh fans be damned.
